Overview

Participants will be required to pass a practical assessment of skills, and a written or verbal examination of theory. The course is designed around the IMO Model course and is accredited with the New Zealand Maritime Safety Authority. The interactive five-day program, designed for anybody with a legitimate interest or role in port security, introduces participants to the main requirements of the Code and, through case studies, lectures and syndicated exercises, sets out the steps that have to be taken in order for compliance.

• Describe recommended practices and procedures listed in international regulations and policies regarding ship security
• Develop a threat assessment and risk analysis based on available intelligence

• A candidate successfully completing the Port Facility Security Officer program will be able to:
• Manage the conduct of a Port Facility Security Assessment
• Develop a Port Facility Security plan from the assessment and submit it for approval by the appropriate Authority
• Supervise the implementation of a Port Facility Security Plan
