ASME BPV Code, Section VIII, Division 1 deals with requirements applicable to the design, fabrication, inspection and testing of pressure vessels operating internally or externally. This pressure may be obtained from an external source, or by the application of the heat from a direct or indirect source, or any combination thereof.

Day 2 — Design for different parts

• Design for Cylindrical Shells under Internal & External Pressure
• Design of Formed Heads
• Wind and Seismic design of Vessels
• Design for Openings and Reinforcement

Day 3 — Examination, Inspection, Testing & Welding Requirements

• Types of radiograph according to ASME VIII (full, spot and none), its benefits and limitations
• “RT” symbols stamp on pressure vessel regarding to degree of radiograph
• Heat treatment code rules for carbon and low alloy steel pressure vessel including the determination of normal holding temperature and holding time
• Post Weld Heat Treatment

Day 4 — Material Class-Specific Requirements

• A look at Metallurgy, its history and development, Clad Steels
• High Alloy Fabrication (Code Section UHA)
• Parts of Subsection C
• Requirements for Carbon and Low Alloy Steels

Day 5 — Design & Post Constructions

• Example Problems
• Describe the preparation of design specifications, design reports, data reports, and other documentation
• Describe introductory portions of the ASME post-construction standards
• Identify the post-construction Codes and Standards and the interrelation of various documents
