Protection systems are installed in power system to prevent damages of electrical equipment by faults, to isolate a faulty part, and to maintain continuity of supply elsewhere in the system. Modern protection includes multiple protection functions as well as monitoring and recording features, self-diagnostics and analogue and digital data. Although the primary role of protective relays is to perform protection functions, relays also provide additional data and some control functions. The course is interactive and encourages delegates to participate through questions and answers.
